CLAIM: Regis Philbin Shopping New Syndicated Talk Show

“Regis eyes his own new show,” reads a piece in the New York Post.

According to the paper, Regis Philbin, who announced his retirement from “Live with Regis and Kelly” back in January, may be “setting himself up to compete with his soon-to-be-ex-co-host, Kelly Ripa,” and has even “begun shopping his own daytime syndicated talk show, starring himself.”

A New York Post source says Ripa “wouldn’t be happy about Regis’ return to daytime because his show would likely compete directly with her gabfest.”

Philbin’s agent declined to comment to the newspaper about its report, and Ripa’s rep told the Post, “I don’t know… She’s very supportive of whatever Regis does, so I would doubt the story.”

Gossip Cop has learned that, as of now, no show is being pitched.
