Could Regis Philbin be going primetime?

The just-retired daytime TV icon is plotting a new show with his RAF Productions company.

Among the ideas being discussed are a “family competition” talent series and reviving a variety-style entertainment showcase.

“We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family,” Philbin tells the New York Post, explaining that it would be a “family competition, which is something new in our business.”

Philbin also says, “[An] entertainment type of show would appeal to me. Almost a variety show.”

He adds, “In our business you don’t want to say variety because it’s frowned upon now, but something with people who are performing.”

In addition to his 28-year run on morning television’s “Live!,” Philbin has primetime cred, having hosted “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” and “America’s Got Talent.”

Why he just don’t enjoy the rest of his life with his family?!

Anyone who watched his last shows knows he didnt retire! He said he was moving on, he said he wanted to do something else. Come on Gossip Cop.

Wasn’t he the original host of America’s Got Talent, but he bombed? Maybe I am thinking of someone else?

I’d love it if they came out with a good variety show (like the Ed Sullivan Show) again. I’m really bored with all the reality shows and most of the other crap that is on TV today. Give me some entertainment instead of 100 channels of crap! I would rather live with only 4 channels of “something on” than 100 channels of “nothing on” which is about the way of it today!
