Reese Witherspoon to Star in ‘West Memphis Three’ Movie

Reese Witherspoon is set to star in Devil’s Knot, based on reporter Mara Leveritt‘s book about the case of the West Memphis Three.
The film, directed by Atom Egoyan, focuses on the sensationalized trials of Jessie Misskelley, Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin, who were convicted of brutally murdering three eight-year-old Boy Scouts in Arkansas in 1993.
Witherspoon will play Pam Hobbes, the mother of one of the victims who initially believes the men are guilty, but then comes to suspect their innocence as more details come to light.
The movie is slated to begin filming next summer.
The West Memphis Three were widely believed to have been wrongly accused of the crimes, and were released from prison in August after 18 years of incarceration.
