If you’re a tabloid editor, you’ve gotta hate your life today.

With some wince-worthy timing, In Touch just hit newsstands with a story about Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal working out their difficulties… a day after Gossip Cop exclusively broke the news that they had split up.

While the mag acknowledges “problems in the relationship,” including Witherspoon’s alleged reluctance to get married, the weekly quotes a source who claims “they are doing whatever they can to work it out.” “The couple is determined to make the holidays special for Reese’s children,” the “insider” tells In Touch, adding that Gyllenhaal “is excited to play Santa.”

Unfortunately, though, this didn’t turn out to be a December of good cheer for the two. Gossip Cop has to give In Touch a lump of coal for guessing wrong.
