“Family Matters” may have been set in Chicago, but its theme song inspired one “American Idol” contestant’s Pittsburgh audition.

On Thursday’s episode, Reed Grimm‘s take on “As Days Go By” initially caught the judges off-guard, but left them thoroughly impressed in the end.

“That was genius,” Steven Tyler told the son of two musicians.
