Rebecca Romijn Denies Slamming Kendall Jenner And Gigi Hadid
Rebecca Romijn is denying she slammed Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in a recent interview that quoted her as saying the two were “not true supermodels.” On Wednesday, Romijn tweeted to both girls to insist she “never talked smack” about them.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Romijn, a former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and Victoria’s Secret model, was asked her opinion of “the new generation of models such as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, who are more famous for their social media presence than their runway experience.” Romijn admitted she finds it “frustrating” that “social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion.”
“They are not true supermodels,” Romijn added about the models, who are also known for their Twitter and Instagram followings. “I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else is doing,” she said of the fashion magazine, which has featured both Jenner and Hadid on its cover. Curiously, after a slew of headlines saying Romijn was specifically dissing Jenner and Hadid, the actress and model tweeted, “Hey @kendalljenner @gigihadid don’t believe the #clickbait. Never talked smack about you. Both amazing & beautiful.” Jenner and Hadid have yet to respond to Romijn’s initial comments or her subsequent denial.
Romijn may not be a big fan of the newest generation of supermodels, but for what it’s worth, she did go on to say her X-Men protege Jennifer Lawrence was “doing a fantastic job” playing the role she originated in previous installments of the franchise.
