Raven-Symone “Fired” From ‘The View’?
Raven-Symone was not fired from “The View,” despite a new report from an unreliable webloid. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We’re told it is “absolutely not true.”
According to the untrustworthy blog MediaTakeOut, Symone “got fired” from “The View” for her “racist statement towards black people.” The webloid writes, “Raven said that it is not racist to discriminate against black people who have ‘black sounding’ names… and that she does it all the time.’” Actually, that’s not what the co-host said.
Anyway, MediaFakeOut alleges Symone’s comment about being personally discriminatory “was enough for Raven to get told goodbye.” Then in a blatant lie, the webloid says “a person who works with Raven” told the blog “producers contacted her on Friday after [the show’s] taping and told her that she is being replaced on the show.” The webloid even claims Symone could be off the air as soon as Monday.
As Gossip Cop reported, on Friday’s “The View,” Symone caused controversy after admitting to being “discriminatory” against people with unusual names. Using the real-life rapper Watermelondrea’s name as an example, she said she wouldn’t employ someone with what might be considered, a “ghetto name.” Symone said, “I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. That’s just not going to happen” (video below).
Regardless of what one think’s about Symone’s comments, despite the webloid’s report, she’s still on “The View.” A rep for the show exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “This is absolutely not true. She has not been fired.”
