Rachel Platten National Anthem World Series Video: Watch “Star-Spangled Banner” Performance!
Rachel Platten sang the National Anthem prior to Game One of the 2016 World Series between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs at Progressive Field on Tuesday night. Watch the pop star’s performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner” in the video below!
During the singer’s rendition, several students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District stood in the outfield holding up the American flag. Platten, perhaps best known for her 2015 worldwide hit “Fight Song,” previously sang the National Anthem before the MLB All-Star Game earlier this year. Shortly before her performance at Tuesday’s game, Platten retweeted the MLB’s official announcement about being chosen for tonight’s big gig. She also shared the above photo on Instagram, writing, “Oh heyyyyy from the #WorldSeries! I’m singing the national anthem tonight so tune in at 7:30pm ET on Fox to see me. Also, they tell me there’ll be a baseball game after that, so you should check that out too.”
Platten’s inspirational track, “Fight Song,” topped iTunes and radio charts, and sold more than two million downloads in the U.S. alone. The song also rose to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2015, and earned Platten the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best Lyrics. Her first major studio album, Wildfire, was released by Columbia Records this past January, and hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Over the summer, Platten and “Fight Song” played a big part of the Democratic National Convention as celebrities participated in a star-studded sing-along music video on honor of Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president.
On Wednesday, country music duo LoCash will perform the National Anthem before Game Two (see video). Check out full video of Platten singing the National Anthem at Game One of the World Series below!
