Rachael Ray Breaks Silence: Rachel Roy “Becky” Mix-Up Was “Hilarious”
Rachael Ray has spoken out about the Rachel Roy “Becky with the good hair” mix-up following the release of Beyonce’s new album, Lemonade. The celebrity chef calls the case of mistaken identity “hilarious.”
Ray was confused for Roy by Beyonce’s devoted and vocal fans, who believed the fashion designer was the the Becky from Beyonce’s song “Sorry.” “[It was] hilarious. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m even mentioned in the same sentence as these people? That’s insane. That’s awesome,'” Ray told Us Weekly after she was attacked by many of Bey’s supporters online.
“I think honestly that it was really much more uncomfortable for the rest of the people in that group than for me. I was like, ‘I’m mixed in with all of those peeps?! What the hell?!'” said Ray, adding, “I mean, it’s so far removed from my life. I’m a cook. I have a little talk show. We chit-chat.”
Ray said she even exchanged gifts after the snafu with Roy, who denied ever being linked to Jay Z or being the Becky in Beyonce’s song. “Rachel [Roy] sent me flowers and I sent her a bottle, a big bottle of wine and a straw.”
