Quizz Swanigan, Felicia Temple “The Voice” Battle Video: Watch ‘Titanium’ Performance
Quizz Swanigan and Felicia Temple‘s Battle on Monday’s “The Voice” led to a steal. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Swanigan sang “Who’s Lovin’ You” for his Blind Audition, which aired earlier this month. Only 13 years old, he’s drawn comparisons to a young Michael Jackson and is now the show’s youngest contestant ever. Temple’s audition with “All I Could Do Was Cry” was featured in the season premiere last month. More than twice Swanigan’s age, her dad is actually in The Sugarhill Gang and, at only 28, she is a cancer survivor.
Both contestants chose to join Alicia Keys’ team, and now were pitted against each other for the second round of the NBC competition. They were tasked with jointly performing “Titanium,” a song their coach thought took them “out of any boxes.” In rehearsal with guest adviser DJ Kahled, Temple was blown away by her younger competition.
Still, Keys praised her “emotional” singing, and she revealed it was a track that meant a lot to her when she battled cancer. “You are titanium,” Keys told her. Meanwhile, the superstar tried to teach Swanigan notes that, given his age, he hadn’t yet mastered. He also admitted to struggling with other notes he used to be able to hit due to a little thing known as puberty.
But Keys thought they both had “powerhouse voices,” which they showed off on stage. Afterward, Gwen Stefani voted for Swanigan because “you’re 13 and that blows my mind.” Adam Levine told Temple, “The only thing you don’t have going for you is your not 13 years old.” Blake Shelton pointed out, “Felicia’s been 13 before.”
The decision, though, was solely up to Keys, and she declared Swanigan the winner. But just when it seemed like Temple’s run on the show was over, Shelton pushed his button to steal! “There’s no reason she can’t win this thing,” he insisted. Check out the video below!
