Quentin Alexander “I Put A Spell On You” American Idol Video Is Grammy-Worthy Performance — WATCH HERE!
Quentin Alexander’s intense performance of “I Put A Spell On You” slayed on Wednesday’s “American Idol,” the first episode where the contestants sang for America’s vote. Watch below!
Alexander, whose unique performing style has been loved from the judges, didn’t disappoint. With a look reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz, the contestant started off quiet before building to a major crescendo. Harry Connick Jr. told him afterward, “You have a different presentation all the way across the board, and I really hope America gives you a chance to stay in this because if they stay with you, I think they will find there’s a real artist in there who makes brave choices. I thought that great.”
Jennifer Lopez said, “That’s performing to me. It has drama. It has dynamics. The vocals, the way you look. The whole thing. It’s emotional. It was perfect. I really loved it. It was one of your great performances.” Keith Urban may have given the highest praise of all, saying, “What’s great is you haven’t even made a record yet, and it was like a Grammy performance. It really was.”
Alexander was one of the 12 guys who performed during the episode. As Gossip Cop reported, the Top 24 for season 14 was revealed last week, after which the guys took the stage for taped performances at the Fillmore in Detroit. The 12 girls in the mix will be showcased on Thursday’s episode. Next week, four of the men and four of the women will be cut based on the votes cast this week, bringing the show to a Top 16. Check out Alexander’s performance below. Tell us if you think he’ll make the cut!
