Who Was Eliminated On American Idol And Who Was Saved To Make Top 5? (VIDEO)
The Top 5 of “American Idol” season 14 was revealed on Wednesday, after another dramatic live show that combined performances, results, and the last fan save of the year.
As Gossip Cop reported, the Top 6 was unveiled last week during a jam-packed episode that featured new performances, a fight between Quentin Alexander and Harry Connick, Jr., and the elimination of Joey Cook after Rayvon Owen won the Twitter save for the second week in a row. The votes following that round were tallied to determine which four contestants automatically made this week’s Top 5, and which were in the Bottom Two and would have to face off to get that coveted last spot.
After announcing safe contestants one by one throughout the show, Ryan Seacrest unsurprisingly revealed Alexander and, once again, Owen had received the lowest amount of votes, but could get redemption through the final Twitter fan save of the season. Alexander did well with “Shake It Out,” but after Owen absolutely crushed it with a killer high note at the end of “Go Your Own Way,” the crowd went wild, and the camera panned to Alexander standing up in celebration and mouthing, “I give it up!” And while the judges mostly praised both of Alexander’s performances throughout the show, and the issue with Connick was never brought up aside from the episode’s opening recap montage, they totally gushed over both of Owen’s performances.
After that, it was no surprise when Owen won the fan save once again, and Alexander was eliminated. Owen now joins Jax, Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham, and Tyanna Jones in the Top 5, who will get to go out on this year’s “American Idol” tour. Votes from their “Arena Anthem” performances tonight will determine next week’s Final Four. Check out the videos below, and tell us how you feel about the results. Did you think Alexander was doomed after last week’s controversy and the judges’ comments tonight?
