Queen Elizabeth NOT Giving Up Throne To Prince William And Kate Middleton, Despite Report
Queen Elizabeth is not giving up the throne and making Prince William and Kate Middleton the next king and queen of England, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this farcical report. We’re told by a Buckingham Palace spokesperson it’s not true.
According to OK!, the Queen will be “stepping down from the throne” in April, and instead of the crown going to her son Prince Charles, who has been in line to rule Great Britain since he was a toddler, Her Majesty will “skip” her first born and the title will go to her grandson, Prince William. A seemingly fabricated “palace source” tells the tabloid that Prince William and Kate Middleton are “stunned,” adding, “The idea of having Charles step aside for the good of the monarchy had been whispered about but they never believed it would happen.”
The magazine then has its questionable “insider” say, “It’s been a tough pill to swallow for Charles. He’s spent his whole life waiting to succeed his mother. He initially flew into a rage, ranting the crown is rightfully his,” but eventually understood that “it’s best for the crown to skip a generation, for the sake of keeping the royal family relevant and vital.”
The rest of the tabloid’s article is filled with how Middleton “has butterflies just thinking about the coronation,” which the magazine alleges will cost $1 billion, and will be attended by a number of celebrities, including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, David and Victoria Beckham, and Reese Witherspoon.
The whole story is a royal lie. And it should be noted that no “palace source” would ever refer to the Queen’s firstborn as just “Charles,” but would instead address him as either “Prince Charles” or “The Prince of Wales.”
Additionally, the tabloid claims on the cover that the “palace confirms” the Queen will abdicate and Prince William will leapfrog his dad to become the King of England. That’s a flagrant untruth. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson exclusively tells Gossip Cop that no such claim was ever confirmed. More importantly, there are no plans for the Queen, who became England’s longest reigning monarch on Wednesday, to step down or for Prince William to become king instead of Prince Charles.
Of course, Gossip Cop has busted OK! numerous times for downright fabricating stories about the royal family. In March 2014, we corrected the tabloid when it made up a cover story about Middleton being pregnant with “twins.” In June 2015, Gossip Cop busted the magazine when it wrongly claimed Prince William and his wife were “moving to America.” And two weeks, we also exclusively debunked the tabloid’s cover story that falsely stated Prince Harry was engaged to Cressida Bonas.
