Matt Damon Battles John Krasinski and His Conscience in Promised Land Trailer

Matt Damon stars in Promised Land, a new drama from his Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant.

The movie follows the efforts of two corporate outsiders (Damon and Frances McDormand) trying to convince members of a dying rural town to let them drill for natural gas.

John Krasinski leads the opposition group, with Hal Holbrook and Rosemarie DeWitt also playing locals.

Damon and Krasinski also co-wrote the script, from a story by Dave Eggers.

It opens in December.
