First Prince William & Kate Middleton Book Published

Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement only 10 days ago, and now the first book about the future king and queen of England is in bookstores today.

“William and Kate: A Royal Love Story,” written by James Clench of The Sun, and published by its sister company HarperCollins, covers the couple’s courtship and  features a slew of photos by the newspaper’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards.

You can count on a barrage of books on Middleton and Prince William – including one by “Diana: Her True Story” author Andrew Morton - before the couple ties the knot on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.

If you love hearing about the Royals, you’ll love The Golden Prince by Rebecca Dean. I was really struck by the delicate parallels and poingent differences between this story of Edward Windsor (who later famously abdicated his throne to marry Wallis Simpson) and his first love, Lily Houghton. I had never before heard of this heartbreaking story of the Price of Wales, and found it fascinating to read about his teenage years which have not much been written about (unlike his years with Wallis Simpson). The Golden Prince powerfully exposes the enormous differences between royalty now and then. I’d obviously heard about the Wallis Simpson affair, but I’d never heard anything about Lily Houghton (who was FAR posher than Kate Middeton…) so it was really interesting!
