Prince died on Thursday at 57, and now Gossip Cop takes a look back at the music icon’s life in pictures. See the photos below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Prince died in Minnesota at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday. His death comes less than a week after he was hospitalized in Illinois when a flight scheduled from Georgia to Minnesota had to make an emergency landing. At the time, Prince’s rep said the singer had been battling the flu.
Prince burst on to the music scene in the ’80s and became a living music legend, churning out hits for nearly four decades. During his career he sold more than 100 million records worldwide, won seven Grammys, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar in 1985 for Best Song for “Purple Rain” for the movie of the same name. In 2004, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The singer was known for his outlandish, yet classy, style and performance looks. He was never afraid to infuse his shows with plenty of sex appeal and over-the-top theatrics. Prince’s 2007 Super Bowl performance created headlines after some complained his guitar appeared phallic. In 2014, he performed two secret shows at Hollywood’s famed Palladium, where he rocked the crowd with an epic four-hour concert that included hits from his vast music library.
