Prince Overdosed On Percocet Last Week
Prince allegedly overdosed on Percocet less than a week before his shocking death.
As Gossip Cop reported, the music icon’s private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois in the early morning hours of Friday, April 15. Prince had been on a flight from Georgia to Minnesota when he apparently suffered a medical crisis. His rep later confirmed that he was briefly hospitalized, and said the superstar had been suffering from the flu.
Six days later, Prince died on Thursday, April 21, at age 57. And on Thursday night, TMZ reported that Prince hadn’t actually been hospitalized for the flu last week, as his spokesperson had claimed, but had overdosed on drugs. Now on Friday morning, the site is claiming Percocet was the drug in question.
The outlet is further alleging Prince took so much of the highly-addictive painkiller, he had to be administered an antidote shot as soon as his plane landed, before he was even rushed to the hospital. TMZ’s sources claim the performer had taken the Percocet following the back-to-back concerts he had performed just hours prior. The star has apparently had hip problems for years, even undergoing surgery in 2010, and was photographed at a pharmacy earlier this week.
It’s important to note these new allegations haven’t been confirmed, and it’s unknown if they relate in any direct or indirect way to Prince’s untimely passing. Though an autopsy is taking place Friday, the full results may not be available for weeks. In the meantime, while some other reports have suggested he was suffering from a mysterious illness that weakened his immune system, Prince’s rep has stopped answering press questions.
