“Pretty Little Liars” Recap: “The Talented Mr. Rollins”
On Tuesday’s “Pretty Little Liars,” the Liars tried to rescue Allison and take down Elliott. Here are the most important things to know about “The Talented Mr. Rollins,” the third episode of season 7.
The show began with Hanna putting on a fake engagement ring to hide her breakup with Jordan before meeting with the girls. They all became suspicious Elliott was the guy Mary Drake was working with, and vowed to try to save Allison before it was too late. Unbeknownst to them, Ali tried a sneak attack on Elliott at the hospital, only to end up sedated again… and wearing a muzzle.
Aria, Emily and Hanna went to the hospital’s administrator and accused Elliott of abuse. But when they went to Ali’s room, she was no longer muzzled or tied down. They later learned Elliott lied about Jason being in the loop, and went to Ali’s house to see what he was hiding in the locked trunk. Aria found a bunch of tools and medications, as Spencer and Hanna had words with Elliott outside. He demanded they stop visiting and warned their “pushing” would be “detrimental to her health.”
When Spencer went to see Toby, Yvonne confronted her over causing “problems” for them. She revealed they were engaged, which led Spence to leave before updating him on things. After, she called Caleb out for being “distant” since Hanna’s kidnapping, and asked point-blank if something happened. He admitted they kissed, but couldn’t answer when Spencer asked if he still had feelings for her.
Hanna, apparently burned and bruised, was on edge from the torture she suffered during her kidnapping. She apologized to Spencer for the kiss with Caleb, which she called a “huge mistake” and insisted that she was “over” him, with Jordan being her “future.” Aria later confessed to Hanna that she broke up with Liam and was back with Ezra, and Hanna snapped when pushed to talk about the torture with Jordan.
At the B&B where Ali and Elliott had stayed, Aria and Hanna met a young girl named Eliza… who said they looked like the dolls Charlotte gave her. The child revealed Elliott and Charlotte would visit a lot, and she saw them kissing once. When she spotted a cow prod on the farm, Hanna had a flashback to being electrocuted.
Spencer realized Elliott had impersonated Wilden to make Ali think she was going crazy, but was interrupted when Caleb asked to talk. “It’s you I want to be with,” he told her, insisting Hanna was his past. She was skeptical, though, and told him, “You like me. But I love you.” And although he pleaded for a chance to “make it work,” Spence wasn’t willing anymore.
In the show’s other storyline, Emily asked Sabrina out on a date, but she was hesitant due to the Ezra key debacle. While at her new job as a bartender at the Radley, Sabrina came in to eat. Emily was begging for another chance when Sabrina’s girlfriend showed up. But despite a kiss, Sabrina claimed to Emily that it was her ex, and asked to “start over” with dinner.
Towards the end of the episode, Emily interrupted Toby’s engagement dinner with Yvonne’s family to tell him about their Elliott suspicions. She gave him the file Spencer had, and asked him to investigate further. Elliott realized someone had been in Ali’s house when his trunk key was moved, leading him to pack up all the evidence. And at the same time Spencer and Emily concluded that he was drugging Ali to make her seem crazy, he creepily told her at the hospital, “Change of plans.”
Aria and Emily thought they should go to the police, but Hanna didn’t want to implicate Ali in Charlotte’s murder. They then received an “S.O.S.” text that they thought was from Ali, a heads-up that Elliott was taking her somewhere. Toby hid the truth about Emily’s visit from Yvonne, and discovered that “Elliott Rollins” was a fake identity.
In the show’s final minutes, as the girls trailed Elliott’s car, Ali attacked him as they drove. Both ran out in the direction of the Liars’ car… and Hanna, who was driving, hit Elliott, who crashed through the windshield. He’s DEAD.
