President Obama opens up about fatherhood in a new interview with Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of his predecessor, George W. Bush.

The President, of course, is dad to Malia, 15, and Sasha, 13, who — like Bush Hager once did — have spent the last 5 years growing up in the White House.

The Commander-in-Chief jokes that “the main reason I ran for re-election was to sustain that [Secret Service detail] all the way through their high school years.”

Obama, who recently watched Malia go off to her first prom, adds that, in actuality, he doesn’t “worry too much about their social lives.”

“The main thing I’m going through right now is just the time goes by so quick,” he tells Bush Hager, pointing out that his girls will be headed to college in just a few years.

So, what advice would the President give to fellow dads as Father’s Day nears?

“Don’t just spend time with your kids because it’s good for the kids. Understand that there’s nothing that’s going to be more precious in your life,” he says.

The full interview will air on Thursday, but check out the preview below!
