Porsha Williams Arrested For Speeding With Suspended License — STATEMENT
Porsha Williams was arrested for speeding with a suspended driver’s license in Atlanta on Monday.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star was reportedly pulled over for allegedly driving 78 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. She was arrested instead of ticketed when it was discovered she was allegedly behind the wheel with a suspended license. Williams was taken to jail and booked, before posting a $1,726 bond for her release, according to TMZ.
In a statement furnished to Gossip Cop, however, Williams insists she has a valid license, and claims she had an even more valid reason for driving fast. “I was headed to visit my grandfather who is very ill with cancer in the hospital, and I was pulled over,” she says. “I was wrong for speeding absolutely and apologize for putting anyone at risk. I tried to explain the situation to the officer and show him that all my paperwork was in order, but he refused.”
She goes on, “Handcuffs are not comfortable or a good look for anyone. I was released, I have my license, my car, and my freedom.” It’s been an interesting year for Williams, to say the least. She was previously arrested in April after a brawl with co-star Kenya Moore during the “Real Housewives” reunion show. In October, it was revealed Williams was demoted from a full-fledged cast member to a guest star and “friend” for the seventh season, which premiered in November.
Gossip Cop has also corrected several false rumors about Williams in recent weeks, including reports in early November that falsely said she “lied” about getting a “Real Housewives” spinoff show. As we correctly noted, Williams never said she was getting such a series, but was simply responding to a question about speculation during a radio interview. In December, it was alleged that Williams was selling her Rolls Royce because she was desperate for money, when, in actuality, she was upgrading to another luxury vehicle. And, most recently, Williams was said to be setting up her own Sugar Babies website. A rep, however, exclusively told Gossip Cop that while she did receive an offer, Williams did not reply and “never ever considered” it.
