Each week Gossip Cop looks at the new tabloid covers and gives a little shudder. They’re splashy, they’re provocative — and they’re sometimes just plain ridiculous. Which was the worst of the year? We picked six very “worthy” candidates from six different mags.

Here’s a refresher:

** Us Weekly declares, “It’s Over!” between Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel… on the same day they were photographed vacationing together.

** National Enquirer sentences Kirstie Alley to death… with reprehensible article claiming she had only four years to live.

** Star links Tiger Woods and Jessica Simpson romantically… in outrageous story with more holes than a golf tournament.

** NW claims Kristen Stewart told Robert Pattinson she was pregnant… courtesy of a piece that gave us morning sickness.

** OK! announces a “Twilight” wedding… using a bait-and-switch of epic proportions.

** In Touch reunites Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston… thanks to desperate and empty nonsense.

    The pregnancy non story was awful to read especially as Rob and Kristen were seperated so much during their filmings then to have that too, was cruel and a cheap shot.

    The Ok wedding was more a comedy read than anything else, the pictures were lovely and they should have left it as that, but not a nice write up filled with bulls@it….

    Wonder what rubbish will be written about Rob and Kristen in 2010 as we have the Eclipse engagement and hopefully the Breaking Dawn wedding and baby so lots for the mags to twist and use.

    Awwwww, how cute. Gossipcop wants one last post of teen Twi-hard hits before 2010 arrives. What’s so shocking about taking Pattinson’s real life girlfriend, his real life crush, all on RECORD and coming up with a pregnancy?? How about nothing. It’s not really a terrible shocking lie to think a young heartthrob might have knocked his teen girlfriend up. If that’s the best Gossipcop could come up with as ‘WORST,’ then I think it’s official – you really HAVE jumped the shark.

    Actually Gossipcop, I would have thought you’d have selected something like ‘Oprah’s DYING!!!’ or the kajillionth Brangelina Triangle cover in all 5 spots since the rags were so prolific in their lies about them. The latter would have been the BEST way you could have made a statement, and really let the industry know you were serious about the ‘Worst Tab Cover of 2009.’ You could have just say ‘all of the ones with Brangelina,’ since that majority of tab covers have featured them in 2009 and since it’s been non-stop lies and total fabrications for more than 4 years now and it’s only getting worse – as are the tabloid congloms stocks and revenues.

    But of course Dan Abram’s site Gossip Cop is not seriously trying to harm the tabloid industry and insure accuracy and straighten out lies…my guess is, they’ve (Gossipcop’s) gotten themselves an agent or Abram’s has one, and that agency has cautioned Abram’s site Gossipcop to not do the job of a PR rep TOO well (contacting rag sheets and giving a comment that will negate a tabloid story, for instance) or else he will put them out of business. It’s a tangled web, eh Dan? You can be a cop, but not TOO good of a cop. More like a beat cop with too many years on the job who doesn’t give a f*ck anymore – no DETECTIVES need apply. Can’t have the whole tabloid industry being taken down, as a LOT of people would be HIGHLY pisssed off, ol’ GC knows that.
