Ant-Man Beats Pixels At Weekend Box Office — See FULL Top 10!
Ant-Man has once again crawled to the top of the box office, this time narrowly beating the new Adam Sandler movie Pixels. The Marvel movie, starring Paul Rudd, which topped the box office in its debut last week, earned $24.8 million. That was enough to beat Sandler’s Pixels, which came in second with $24 million. Remaining in the top three was Minions, which had a haul of $22.1 million.
Train wreck secured fourth place with $17.3 million, which is more than a 40 percent drop from last week, though the numbers aren’t believed to have been affected by Thursday’s mass shooting during a screening of the film in Lafayette. The new Jake Gyllenhaal boxing movie Southpaw came in fifth place during its first week out with $16.5 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were sixth place finisher Paper Towns, based on the John Green novel, with ticket sales totaling $12.5 million. Next, in seventh place, was Inside Out with $7.4 million, followed by Jurassic World with a take of $6.9 million. Mr. Holmes secured ninth place with $2.8 million, and Terminator: Genisys remained in the Top 10 with $2.4 million.
