Pippa Middleton: My Bridesmaid Dress Was “Embarrassing” — WATCH VIDEO
Pippa Middleton broke her silence about her life after the Royal Wedding and her now famous bridesmaid dress during her first ever television interview, which aired the first of its two parts on Monday’s “Today Show.”
The British socialite admitted that she viewed Kate Middelton’s wedding to Prince William in 2011 simply as her sister’s wedding.
“It sounds funny to say, but we saw it, as just a family wedding,” she told Matt Lauer. “And actually, I didn’t realize, perhaps, the scale of it until afterwards.”
Middleton added the the enormity of the event first hit her when she stepped onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace and saw the crowd down below.
“I was like, ‘wow, this is pretty special,'” she recalled of the historic event.
As for her much talked about cream bridesmaid dress, Middleton insisted that it was supposed to just blend in.
“It was completely unexpected,” she said of her derrière hugging gown. “You know, I think the plan was not really for it to be a significant dress. Really just to sort of blend in with the train.”
“I suppose it’s flattering,” continued Middleton, before adding that the attention was “embarrassing, definitely” because “it wasn’t planned.”
She noted, “The dress was always meant to be insignificant.”
Middleton also talked about her charity work and her biking across 12 states as a part of “Race Across America.”
The second part of Middleton’s interview will air Tuesday on the “Today Show.”
