Almost as soon as William and Kate‘s wedding was over, outlets began their feverish speculation about a possible romance between Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton.

A supposed “love triangle” emerged, involving Middleton’s beau Alex Loudon and partially fed by the media’s distaste for Harry’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Chelsy Davy. There was never any actual Pippa/Harry fling, however, which is what makes Life & Style‘s story that they’ve now been “torn apart” by Kate so preposterous.

According to the magazine, the new Duchess of Cambridge is responsible for squashing the would-be couple, having “put her energy into advising Pippa on how to win back Alex.”

“Kate was really embarrassed about all the Harry and Pippa stuff and wanted to do anything to get it to go away,” explains a Life & Style “source.” “Besides, she thinks it would look ridiculous having two sisters involved with two brothers. She doesn’t want to go down in history as some freak show.”

That’s why, reports Life & Style, Kate hatched a plan for Pippa to win back Loudon’s love. Essentially, Pippa was repeatedly photographed looking happy to make her ex jealous. Uh-huh. So whenever Pippa’s seen smiling, it’s part of her sister’s plot to keep Prince Harry from turning their family into a “freak show”?

Here’s another explanation for why Pippa seems happy: She’s Pippa Middleton! And here’s an explanation for why she and Harry aren’t together: They never were. Both Pippa and Harry are out and about, seeing other people, living their own lives. They happen to be in-laws now. That’s why they’re sometimes in the same place at the same time. Kate did not intercede to protect Pippa “from having her heart broken by a prince who isn’t ready to settle down,” despite Life & Style‘s attempts to make it seem so dramatic.
