Pippa Middleton Could Face Charges in Gun-Waving Incident

(GettyImages)

Pippa Middleton could be facing charges for a bizarre incident in Paris on Sunday in which a friend of hers pointed what seems to be a real handgun at photographers.

Middleton, the younger sister of Kate, was riding around Paris in the front passenger seat of a convertible with three male friends when the driver brandished a gun at the paparazzi.

While it’s unclear whether the weapon was real, it may not matter. Simply waving around a firearm in public is a crime.

A witness has reportedly already filed a formal complaint with the French police, and Middleton may be called in to talk with investigators.

She could even be prosecuted and possibly jailed for her involvement, regardless of whether the gun was real or not.

Gossip Cop will update as more details emerge.

whoever was the person who filed a complaint should be ashamed of him/herself.
was it smart on behalf of Pippa’s friends? No. But the law in US and England have to start protecting the celebs from paparazzi as well. It is utmost time!

  • Alyx

Jail time HAHA that is funny if lindsay lohan never faced any jail time for the dumb shit she did i highly HIGHLY doubt this women will give me a break honestly

  • Regina1180

The laws overseas are a lot different than US laws.

  • Ahahha

Why should Pippa get charged for this crime ?

  • Sheelly

Actually, England already has a bunch of anti-paparazzi laws. Many celebs have taken advantage of them and sued successfully. Furthermore, this happened in Paris where their laws are strict concerning guns. Fake guns normally have a colored tip to signify it’s fake (so police don’t shoot the crap out of them for brandishing it).

I applaud the person who filed the complaint. Quasi-celebs (why is Pippa even important? So her sister married a prince. so what!) and celebs need to realize that laws apply to them, as well, and they aren’t above them because of their so-called elevated status.

  • Krissu

hold on, hold on, hold on.
Why is pippa even important? she is not! as you said it was her sister who married a prince. then why are paparazzi chasing her like crazy? It is not pippa who has ever chased down fame, in fact, she had Kate have been pretty adamant that paparazzi keeps crossing the line.
I missed the part where it said it happened in Paris. Paris was the town, like you well remember, where Pippa’s in-law relative died, being chased nby paparazzi. That makes it even more tragic!
Shame on that person, and shame on you for thinking this is normal!

  • Krissu

I hope police over there at least has some decency to leave Pippa out of it!

Last time I checked, her friend had the gun not her. It is completely ridiculus that all 4 people in the car be held responsible for the actions of one. I driver has sole responsibility for this.
Also has anyone ever heard of self defense? It seems highly unlikely that the driver randomly pulled out a gun completely unprovoked. More likely, he or one of his friends in the car felt threatened by them in some way. Remeber what has happened in Paris, regarding Pippams family, a car, and paparazzzi in the past. (Princess Diana ring a bell anybody?) I totally think their actions were justified, and it would be a crime to see anyone besides the obnoxious photographers do time. At what point is this going to stop? I wonder if the royals can pullsome strings here…..

Fake gun, joke between the paparazzis and Pippa’s friends, no complaint, no charges, no nothing.

What the hell, maybe if Paris was more concerned with stopping the paparazzi (who by the way killed Princess Diaha in this very city) they wouldn’t have to worry about who waves a gun at them not even threatening to hurt them. To be quite honest even if the gun was real, Pippa and her friend were in much more danger as a result of the paparazzis presencd than anyone else was as a result of her friend carrying a gun. He wasn’t going to fire it unless it was in absolute self defense or, defense of his friend. Its not like he was going to open fire just to piss the photographers off. He is not the real criminal here, the paparazzi are- they are the ones who have killed people, they are the ones that invaded her privacy and I am certain, that they did something to provoke her friend before he would have pulled a gun on them, it wouldn’t make sense to be driving down the street and suddenly begin waving a gun. And how on earth could anyone justify jailing Pippa for this crime, it wasn’t her car, it wasn’t her gun, she didn’t wave it, she didn’t make any threats, she didn’t do a damn thing wrong! This is just the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and I while I don’t usually approve of this, I think she should use her friends in high places to get out of this one!
Sorry if my comment doesn’t make the least bit of sense- I am livid and likely incoherent at this atrocity. I can’t believe they would do this to anyone but her of all people and Paris of all places, its just plain wrong!!!!

I don’t think Sheelly was intending to say that the actions of the paparazzi are normal, just that Pippa and her friends need to follow the laws just like everyone else. If anyone else had brandished a gun then they, and their passengers, would have been fined. It does not make what the paps did okay, it’s just that the law is the law and everyone should abide by the rules. I’m sure they were annoyed by the paps and constantly being followed, but their response to that was illegal and they deserve to be fined, no matter the circumstances.

I personally think the paparazzi are scum and we need more laws to protect people from them, but, until that time, all a person can do is take the blows and find a way of changing the laws (like Hugh Grant’s involvement in the News of the World scandal).

All Pippa did was ride around with a guy who is obviously a first class fool. She didn’t point the gun at anyone, he did, she wasn’t driving the car, he was. If she wasn’t Kate Middleton’s sister, you would never have heard about any of this. Is it Pippa’s fault that the paparazzi choses to follow her around. She didn’t marry into the Royal Family, her sister did, so why would she possibly be penalized for living her life. It is clear, Kate is the boring one, whereas Pippa put up disco balls in Buckingham Palace for the reception after the reception. If she’s arrested for any of this nonsense this will be the biggest miscarriage of justice in history. ROCK ON PIPPA.

  • Lucy

they’ve had to deal with a gunman recently in France, so it’s not that strange that somebody who sees a guy waving around a gun in public calls the police. She won’t be arrested, maybe interrogated, that’s all.

Sorry GC, I think you’ve officially dropped the ball on this one. You’re the tabloid this time. I sincerely doubt Pippa will face ANY jail time from this, I mean why should she?

She might be questioned about the incident, but she didn’t commit the crime so I don’t think she’ll do any time.

  • Kris

If she goes to jail does that mean we won’t have to hear about her anymore? Personally I’m hoping for that! Pippa is NOT part of the royal family and she never will be unless she marries into it!

It would be nice if the papz forgot about “the sister” and focused on Kate… You know the person who actually is now part of the royal family? The future Queen? Any of this ringing a bell???

  • Brianna

You want this woman who did nothing wrong to go to jail so you don’t have to read about her. Seems a bit harsh and unnecessary. Don’t you think there is a better solution like NOT CLICKING ON THE ARTICLE that you could try? It seems to make more sense than her doing time for your convenience.

  • Regina1180

They say she could face charges, not that it’s a definite. If that’s the way Paris police choose to play it, is GC not supposed to report it?

  • amandanoa

I’ll think you’ll find that Pippa quite likes all the attention – it was said she enjoyed all the new contacts for the family party plan business. The paps chase her because she keeps giving them stories like this – if she behaved herself they’d leave her alone.

  • amandanoa

Why? why should she get away with it just because of who she is – she has shown very bad morals since she became publicly known. PIppa is certainly no princess.

  • Kris

No I want her to stop cashing in on her sister’s name! She’s almost as bad as the distant stripper cousin using Kate to make herself famous! It’s embarrassing! Neither of these girls have one third of the class that Kate has!
