Piers Morgan Slams Nicki Minaj As “Whiny Brat” After VMA Nomination Twitter Rant
Piers Morgan has slammed Nicki Minaj as a “whiny brat” in a new article for seemingly attacking Taylor Swift on Twitter on Tuesday because the rapper’s “Anaconda” video didn’t get a VMA nomination for Video of The Year while Swift’s “Bad Blood” did. As Gossip Cop reported, Minaj tweeted, “If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.” She added in another tweet, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”
Minaj later tweeted directly at Swift when the latter responded, writing that Minaj shouldn’t “pit women against each other,” especially since she’s always been supportive of her work.
A number of celebrities have since commented on the beef, including Morgan, who on Wednesday penned an essay for the Daily Mail in which he goes after Minaj for creating unnecessary drama. “I experienced at first hand what a stroppy little piece of work she could be when she appeared as a guest act on ‘America’s Got Talent’ when I was still a judge on the show,” wrote Morgan. He then recounted a story about a time when his sons wanted to take a photo with Minaj while she was backstage at “America’s Got Talent.” Supposedly, the singer, who was doing nothing but lounging on a couch, had her people tell him she was “not available.”
Morgan further wrote, “She proceeded to scowl her way through her entire time with AGT, on stage and off.” He added, “I have every sympathy with Taylor, who did absolutely nothing wrong. And I have no sympathy with Nicki Minaj, who emerges as a whiny brat that just doesn’t like losing.” He continued, “Her charges of racism and big-bodyism are frankly laughable when you consider that three of the five nominations for Video of the Year are black artists… The reason your video didn’t get nominated for Video of The Year, Ms Minaj, is that it wasn’t as good as the others which did.” Morgan concluded by addressing Minaj and telling her that trying to turn the situation into a racial issue was a “cheap piece of faux outrage deliberately designed to stir up unnecessary racial tension where it shouldn’t exist.”
