Piers Morgan Target of Deportation Petition For Anti-Gun Stance

Piers Morgan is the target of a deportation petition created by gun rights activists who are firing back at the CNN host for views on gun control.

The British TV personality has been vigorously arguing for gun control on his weeknight program and Twitter account since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School earlier this month.

A petition created on Friday to have Morgan deported to his native England argues that he has committed a “hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution” for his views on the Second Amendment.

“We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights,” the petition reads, ”and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

As of Monday morning, the petition had already garnered more than 33,000 signatures — perhaps with a little help from Morgan himself.

“Bring it on,” he wrote on Twitter on Sunday in response to one tweet about the petition.

And on Monday, he tweeted jokingly, “If I do get deported from America for wanting fewer gun murders, are there any other countries that will have me? #havebaggagewilltravel”

Created on the White House’s official petition site, the call for Morgan’s deportation has already surpassed the minimum 25,000 signatures required to get an official response.

But as the numbers continued to grow on Monday, and the news began to spread, Morgan seemed to be taking it a little more seriously.

“I am now trending in the United States because of this deportation threat. This is getting ridiculous,” he tweeted.

    This is what our country is becoming? 26 innocent people were murdered, mostly little children and this is what Americans think is the right thing to do? I think all of the forefathers are rolling in their graves at the way that what they held so highly is being used for personal gains. Stop the guns! Treat people with mental health issues. Stop the madness. How many more have to die before we do something? I applaud Mr. Morgan for his stance on gun control.

    I don’t necessarily agree with his position, but is this for real? Trying to deport someone who has absolutely no say in the way the gun laws are or aren’t changed?

    Obviously the NRA thinks the Constitution consists only of the 2nd amendmant. Maybe they should look at the rest of the Constitution, namely the amendmant just before the second.

    The right to bear arms was not given to us so that we could go duck hunting.
    The right to bear arms was given to us so that we would have the ability to
    rise up and take back our Constitutional rights when the Government became
    corrupt and was acting outside of the powers that were given to them. The
    writers of the Constitution said it was our duty to do so.

    There are many examples of Corruption. I will give you 1 example for arguments
    sake.

    We were given the freedom of information act. When Dr Shirley Moore and
    Richard Fine discovered and exposed that the L.A. Superior Court Judges were
    excepting money that was not authorized by LAW and Sturgeon vs. Los Angeles
    County 1 declared those payments to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL then the Judges paid a
    lobbyist to pass SBX211 that granted themselves (Retro Active Immunity from
    Prosecution).

    When Government and Corporations are held to the same standards of the rule
    of LAW as the people are held. Then and only then could there be meaningful
    discussions about gun control.

    When Government stops taking money from the people and giving it to banks
    and corporations and starts prosecuting blatant acts of corruption then gun
    control could be an option.

    The presstitutes and politicians will paint the topic
    of gun rights as being about duck and dear hunting.

    What happened to your duty to propect your children? Your constitution was not set in stone, the right to bear arms needs to be reviewed. How many more children are to be shot down before action is taken to reduce the chance of this happening yet again. And what happened to freedom of speech? Or does Morgar not have that right? I keep hearing the same old “guns don’t kill people, people do”, so review your law that allows “people” to buy & keep guns in their homes where their unstable sons can get their hands on them.

Understand? And for those interested in stopping these senseless killings, the NRA is not as powerful as people think. Go back and read the constitution. WE THE PEOPLE. It all comes down to votes. The people representing your states speak on your behalf. If they go to Washington and don’t speak for you, you make sure they never represent you again. It is never up to the NRA, it is always up to We the People. Don’t ever let them tell you that they can out vote you, that ship been sailed since 2008. Never under estimate the power of voting, it is the greatest tool you’ll ever have.

    The forefathers were not omnipotent, no one could foresee what the future would hold, that is why they we have amendments. Tell me Daniel, how did 26 people prove to be dangerous to that animal? Stop justifying murder! If I understand the constitution correctly, the right to bear arms was against other nations that proved harmful to our country.

    This is ridiculous. Those who are complaining about Morgan’s comments don’t even understand the Second Amendment. The right to bear arms is not about giving every citizen the right to have a gun for protection. It was solely for the purpose of arming a militia of citizen volunteers against a government power grab. The reason for that is because a standing federal army such as our military today was not looked upon favorably. As such, George Washington CHOSE to resign his commission and relinquish his military powers once the Revolutionary War was won.

    Those who think that the Second Amendment granted the right for every citizen to bear arms, including semiautomatic weapons and assault weapons doesn’t understand anything about it.

    The other thing that they don’t understand is freedom of speech. By declaring his beliefs, Morgan is simply exercising his First Amendment rights and is doing no such thing as committing a hostile act on the US Constitution, whatever that is supposed to mean. There is no legal right of deportation on the part of the government because someone expresses his views.

    These two rights, as expressed in the First and Second Amendments are sadly misunderstood by what appears to be a huge segment of the population. We are doing a very poor job of educating our citizenry about the fundamentals of how our government works. How sad that these people are more interested in preserving this so-called right for every yahoo to own a gun than they are in stopping the murder of children….

    Daniel – first, you should probably gain a basic understanding of the Second Amendment before you accuse someone of waging war on a right we don’t even have. Second, if you think that someone should be censored because you disagree with his opinion, then you obviously don’t understand the First Amendment either. I am also a born and bred citizen of the US, and I exercise my right of free speech to advocate for a complete change to the gun laws – such as no assault weapons, no high capacity magazines, and major background checks for everyone in every single possible venue through which they could gain legal access to any kind of weapon. There – I said it – where do you propose to send me?

    Keep guns ,do a complete psychiatric evaluation by a panel for each new gun permit ,let the board decide if the individual is sound enough to responsibly the safe keep and cleaning of a gun. Then for gods sake ,get our country better mental illness coverage. I know damn well my mother has Parkinsons Disease and yes that neurological but she also must see a psychiatrist which is allowed 20 visit a year . There should be NO limit on a person that needs mental care visits ! Wake up America!!!!

    I agree Daniel ! When oath is taken it is taken to defend our country from terrorists and from within. Mental health coverage sucks in the states…sorry but thats a fact people.The hand gun permit needs to restructure itself & add a psychiatric evaluation board I believe. If an individuals career requires them to be armed in the states ,they do undergo an evaluation…why shouldn’t every one else? Taking guns away is NOT the answer …look what happened to the alcohol prohibition ….wake up America! This kid was ill ,his mother has ownership of all the guns ,SHE is at fault for not properly securing her hand guns…plain & simple. My whole family is in the criminal tactic force ,there should be NO acess to any guns except the owner and another mentally sound individual if needed. Your all gonna say that he would of got the gun somewhere else then, yes , and folks that is called the black market ….which is where drugs that are prohibited are purchased and stolen guns !!! Pierce Morgan is right.Is America a country on mass? THOSE AGAINST GUN CONTROL SHOULD WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE VERY CLOSE TO THEM IS GUNNED DOWN!

    I don’t know abt deporting him but I do object to him promoting having “fair discussions on gun control” but all he does is turn it into a scream fest and when pro gun guests try to talk he talks over them. I’d like to hear what they say even if I disagree with it…I’d like to know why they believe everyone should be armed, etc. I really dislike his arrogance…he’s not the person that should be promoting “civil” discussion since he won’t let both sides talk…there’s nothing “civil” about him at all.
