Philip Seymour Hoffman has officially been cast as Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.

Heavensbee takes over as Head Gamemaker in the second installment of the series, after Seneca Crane is executed for having been outsmarted by Katniss Everdeen.

Catching Fire is set to begin filming this fall.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Jena Malone is said to have been offered the role of Johanna Mason in the second installment of the franchise.

This is good news this is a good casting, Mr Hoffman is a wonderful actor and I’m sure he will bring some serious favor to Catching Fire. But the casting for Johanna is just wrong…wrong…wrong.

actually I think the Jena Malone casting was much more in step with the book than the PSH as Plutarch….I always pictured him as much older…. ah well. We’ll see what happens!

funny you say that, I pictured Plutarch the same age-range as Seneca Crane. so PSH seems older to me but great casting decision, talent wise. Johanna, I pictured more ‘exotic’ looking – like hispanic, italian or european so I am not a huge fan of the Jena decision. We shall see though.

remember people Jena Malone was OFFERED the role it doesnt mean she was cast as Johanna, Still hoping for Michelle Rodriguez here lol

i think the casting for Johanna is not yet confirmed…look it up in the official facebook page of the hunger games…only Seymour Hoffman is confirmed…!!!
