Phil Rudd of AC/DC has been arrested in an alleged murder plot. He reportedly tried to hire someone to kill an unidentified victim. Police raided the drummer’s home in New Zealand on Thursday and took Rudd into custody. He was charged with attempting to procure a murder, threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

An official with the Tauranga Central division of the New Zealand Police confirmed Rudd’s arrest but did not provide additional details. Rudd is elected to appear in district court on Thursday. Neither he nor AC/DC has officially commented on the situation.

Rudd joined the legendary Australian rock group in 1975 and was fired in 1983. He rejoined AC/DC in 1994 and has been with the band ever since. AC/DC released a song called “Play Ball” last month, intended as the first track from their upcoming album Rock or Bust. The band had intended to go on a world tour in 2015 despite the recent departure of founding member Malcolm Young, who has dementia.

A new press photo of AC/DC was released last month featuring four of the band’s members but not Rudd. When Rolling Stone asked about the conspicuous absence, a spokesperson said Rudd was still in the band but had been unable to make the photo shoot. Gossip Cop will have updates.
