Peter Facinelli Officially Files for Divorce from Jennie Garth

Peter Facinelli has officially filed for divorce from Jennie Garth, Gossip Cop confirms.

They announced their split earlier this month in a joint statement.

Facinelli cites “irreconcilable differences” in documents filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The couple wed in 2001 and have three daughters together.

In the court documents, Facinelli asks for joint legal and physical custody of the kids.

The “date of separation” is listed as January 1, 2012.

Facinelli and Garth have denied that rumored infidelity had anything to do with their breakup.

    I knew this was coming. She’s been using the separation to promote her show and she’s basically blaming him for the whole thing. Even if it’s true, she should keep it quiet for the sake of her girls. Look at the Christie Brinkley mess.

    It is a shame this did not work out. I wish them both the best. I will say Peter is doing this right he is ending one relationship that he knows he is no longer passion about, before he gets into another one. Brad could’ve learn something from Peter on this one.

    I hope that’s not the case. But if that IS the case — they have both publicly denied it — then he was VERY discreet about it. Which is more than I can say for the other 99% of Hollywood. Still, he has always said nothing but good things about his wife and girls and always seems so devoted.

    And no – I don’t think the Twilight franchise is to blame but it does make me wonder…it used to be that she was the most successful one and he was the unknown. Now he’s been in very successful movies and on Nurse Jackie. He’s everywhere now. The only thing I’ve seen her in lately was ‘Dancing with the Stars’, something about ‘Walk your child to school’ campaign, and this new reality show. What’s that about anyway?

    Jennie gave an interview to People Magazine http://ow.ly/9W3HX and she says Peter wanted the divorce…she wanted to make it work. Peter will realize in a few years that work comes and goes but family is forever.

    What does Brad Pitt have to do with Peter’s divorce? It amazes me how you hags STILL obsess over a 2005 divorce. BTW…this divorce IS NOT a surprise. They where NEVER together. Peter was on the east coast shooting Nurse Jackie and flying home on the weekends. What do you want to bet that sh*t got old. In the people magazine interview Jenny admitted he did that for 2 YEARS. Why couldn’t have Jenny and the whole family move to NY with him? People have to be TOGETHER for relationship to work! Whatever happen to give and take? Peter is they moneymaker in the family…..a move to NY would NOT have killed Jenny and the kids. Now they have a broken home.

    They were my sweet couple. When I’ve heard that somebody had broke up, I thought: “thank God, Peter and Jennie are together.” And now they’re getting divorce too… But, anyway, if it’s better for them, all I can do is accept this fact. –_–

    I am so sorry to hear this marriage is splitting. I like both Jennie and Peter, but having been in Jennie’s position, I have to say….hang in there girl! Live for your daughters for a while, and get past the anger and disappointment a failed marriage can bring. You are gorgeous and you will come out of this stronger and much better off. It takes time…..cliche but true!
