Perez invites trouble with inaccurate item on Kanye West and George Clooney telethon

Gossip Cop feels it’s like shooting fish in a barrel, but since we’re about presenting the most accurate celebrity news, we sometimes have to call out Perez Hilton more than once a day.

Today is one of those days.

Under the headline, “Kanye’s NOT Invited,” Perez writes that “Kanye West was not invited to participate in George Clooney’s telethon fundraiser for the earthquake victims in Haiti due to his bad reputation.”

Perez even quotes “one of the producers” explaining, “After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate.”

He then says, “we can’t blame” the show’s producers for not inviting West.

But Gossip Cop can blame Perez for sloppy reporting.

The truth is MTV did invite West, but has yet to hear back whether he’ll participate or not.

The story originally appeared on another blog, but that site updated its post to reflect MTV’s assertion that West was asked to help with the fundraiser.

Perez either chose to ignore the facts or was too busy making video blogs about how he’s “desperate” for a date.

For full disclosure, we sometimes feel kind of sorry for the guy.

    Kanye is not a bad person, he just has a little problem where he puts thoughts into action without thinking them through first completely, kinda like a bit of a torrets syndrome kinda thing. probably habituated over many years rather than anything genetic.
    he needs a GF to slap him on the hand when he looks like saying something without thinking.
    save the other kind of slapping for private affairs(minds out of the gutter please).
    his heart is in the right place, always was.
    his actions made him look like a selfish spoilt brat that could not accept not getting his own way.
    i feel 90% sure that he is not that way but unles he changes his actions he is going to be perceived that way.

    soo now the real story about perez comes out, he is heart broken and looking for a partner to fill that gap.
    poor thing…
    if he is going to throw everyone’s personal issues to the papanazi then i doubt he is going to find a resolution to his broken heart.
    keeping in mind love is a process

    peace light truth love

    notice the truth bit in there before the love part.
    cant take short cuts, do not pass go do not collect love, go directly to heartbreak.

    he has the peace(lack of violence in his life) now he just needs the light
