Happy Anniversary to Perez Hilton and Fidel Castro!

Sunday marks seven years seven years since the blogger quite grandly and wrongly reported that Castro was dead.

Back on August 24, 2007, the painfully uninformed Perez tried to scoop the world with an “exclusive” about the Cuban leader allegedly having died.

“Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that U.S. officials will be holding a press conference shortly to announce the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro,” he announced.

Seven years later… we’re still waiting for that press conference.

The funniest part about Perez’s “reporting” that day was that he later doubled (and quadrupled) down on his 100% wrong bet.

“The announcement of Fidel Castro’s death will be made at approximately 4:00 P.M. Eastern, PerezHilton.com has just been updated exclusively,” wrote the blogger in a second post.

After being proven wrong, a defiant Perez then posted a third story still claiming Castro was dead.

It was this type of outright false “reporting” that inspired Gossip Cop to launch its own site, based on factual reporting.

Sadly, Perez still churns out FALSE STORY after FALSE STORY.

It’s now seven years later. Fidel Castro is still alive. And Perez Hilton is still dead wrong. Happy Anniversary, Perez!
