Happy 8th Anniversary Of Perez Hilton FALSELY Declaring Fidel Castro Dead!
Monday marks EIGHT YEARS since the bad blogger WRONGLY reported Castro was dead. On August 24, 2007, the perennially uninformed Perez tried to “scoop” the world with an “exclusive” about the Cuban leader allegedly dying. It was COMPLETELY FALSE.
“Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that U.S. officials will be holding a press conference shortly to announce the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro,” Perez announced. Now eight years later, Gossip Cop is still waiting for that press conference.
The most unbelievable part of Perez’s “reporting” that infamous day was that he later doubled and even quadrupled down on his 100 percent wrong bet. “The announcement of Fidel Castro’s death will be made at approximately 4:00 P.M. Eastern, PerezHilton.com has just been updated exclusively,” he went on to write. And then, in a THIRD story, after he was already proven wrong, Perez defiantly insisted Castro was dead. It was still a TOTAL LIE.
It was that type of outright false “reporting” that inspired Gossip Cop to launch its own site, with a mission to hold other outlets responsible for anything less than factual reporting. Perez is still churning out false stories, and Gossip Cop is still calling him out for it. Most importantly, though, it’s now eight years later, and Castro is still alive, and Perez is still dead wrong.
Happy anniversary, Perez!
