Perez Hilton’s Robert Downey Jr. to Play Vampire Story Bites

“Robert Downey Jr. is in heavy talks to play the vampire Lestat, a role made famous by Tom Cruise in Interview With The Vampire, in a prequel explaining Lestat’s origins,” wrote Perez Hilton a few days ago, adding, “The only problem we can foresee is that Rob might just be a little long in the tooth to play the role, as Lestat was changed at the mere age of twenty-something.”
Here’s another “problem” – the tale is untrue. Originally Gossip Cop was going to ignore this as yet another story not fact-checked by Perez Hilton, but numerous other outlets sank their teeth into this rumor and repeated it.
Downey is NOT in “heavy talks” to take on the role. He’s not doing the movie. As his rep succinctly put it, “This story is false.”
Not content just to be wrong with the facts, Hilton also took a cheap shot at “Twilight” by saying that Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” is “For those of you who feel like Twilight is too pansy for the vampire lore and Robert Pattinson is too sparkly to be scary.”
Gossip Cop thinks someone needs to spend more time actually investigating news and less time polishing punch lines.
