Paula Deen’s rep says the chef had nothing to do with a racist photo appearing on her Twitter account on Tuesday, which showed her son, Bobby Dean, in brownface. And Deen has now also fired her social media manager for allegedly posting the offensive tweet.

As Gossip Cop reported, Deen was attacked on Twitter after she seemingly posted (and quickly deleted) an image of herself dressed up as Lucille Ball’s “I Love Lucy “ character, standing next to her son Bobby, who was in brown face paint to portray Desi Arnaz’s Cuban-American character Ricky Ricardo. The photo was captioned, “Lucyyyyy! You got some esplainin’ to do! #TransformationTuesday.”

While Deen and son have remained silent on the issue, a rep for the chef has denied the tweet was posted by the former Food Network star, instead insisting it was uploaded by her recently-fired social media manager. “This photograph is from a Halloween episode of Paula’s ‘Best Dishes’ that aired in 2011,” her rep told E! News, adding, “Paula immediately had this picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended.” The rep noted that “Paula Deen Ventures has terminated their relationship with this social media manager.”

As Gossip Cop noted earlier on Tuesday, Deen faced a similar controversy back in 2013 after a former employee at her restaurant Uncle Bubba’s sued her, claiming Deen constantly hurled racist remarks at her. The controversy deepened after Deen admitted during a sworn deposition that she had used the N-word in the past. What do you think of Deen’s handling of this latest racist controversy?
