Paula Abdul: I’m Leaving The X Factor

It’s official: Paula Abdul will not return to “The X Factor.”

She’s released the following statement:

“Yes, it’s true; I won’t be returning to The X Factor next season.  I’ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations.”

It continues, “Simon and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation.  Simon is, and will remain a dear friend of mine and I’ve treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle.”

“I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams.  This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful,” concludes Abdul.

Simon Cowell also released a statement regarding her departure, saying Abdul “is a very close friend and I expect to be working with her on another project in the near future.”

On Monday, it was confirmed that host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger are gone from the singing competition series.

Cowell worked hard to bring Abdul, his former “American Idol” colleague, to “The X Factor” when it launched last fall.

Replacements for Abdul and Scherzinger have not been announced – but Gossip Cop has some ideas!

    I hope that isn’t true. Paula is to Simon what Kathy Lee used to be to Regis. Many probably won’t remember, but that was their heyday.

    I think Paula Abdul ruined what that show could have been. She is terrible. That show stunk this year. Some good talent, but the premise was awful.

    I don’t think it’s the judges, I think it’s the show itself.
    All they did was combine American Idol + Americas Got Talent.

    They took two really good shows and made an alright show.
    I don’t watch X factor, I watch American Idol.

    Idol just feels more personal, and more exciting.
    “You’re going to hollywood!”
    You feel excited for the people who audition.

    With Xfactor it’s the same stage over and over. /:
    It doesn’t feel real for me.

    I don’t know how to explain it.

    This show was so poorly executed that getting rid of judges won’t help. It needs to be revamped into something we have not seen before. How about focusing on the talent and not the judges? How about not giving so much time to personal stories and instead show entire performances? I had to stop watching halfway through because it was obviously rigged for maximum drama and I am too mature for that. It’s a pity that the producers don’t share that maturity.

    It has got to be a joke “donny”. No one can be that stupid and know how to work the computer. He does it every day. Pretty sure he is just an attention hound. If not, someone PLEASE get this boy some learnin, stat!!!

    Not a smart decision on FOX’s part, oh well, the show’s a sinking ship anyway, without Paula it’ll just go down a little faster I suppose.
