Paula Abdul Told Nicole Scherzinger to “Deadlock” X Factor Vote (VIDEO)

In the dramatic final moments before Rachel Crow was eliminated from “The X Factor,” Paula Abdul advised an indecisive Nicole Scherzinger to “just let it go to the deadlock.”

New video courtesy of TMZ, in which Abdul’s audio level is raised, makes that clear.

Before the video came to light, however, clueless webloid HollywoodLife was busying itself with bizarre theories about how Scherzinger “intentionally sabotaged” Crow by not voting, knowing “America would kick her off!”

The site seemed to be under the false impression that Scherzinger was choosing between Crow and her own protégée, Josh Krajcik.

In reality, it was Crow versus Marcus Canty.

Either way, the decision was Scherzinger’s – and the ultimate vote was America’s.

Do you think she should have had more of a backbone in making a choice, or should the national balloting be the end result anyway?

    Nicole was really lame. she ruined it for everyone. i hope she never comes back after this season. you can tell simon can’t stand her. she is the biggest moron, never says anything substantial, and then she can’t make a decision, what’s the point of having her as a judge? she sucks.

    It took Paula a few years on Idol to stomach ruining someone’s career, but I think Paula’s advice was more a response to what had happened the previous week when she had chosen NOT to let the issue go to a deadlock.

    It just proves Nicole can’t make up her own mind. I think next year they need to change the way they handle the “save me song” vote and not have the other judges know how each other voted. Maybe they could write it down all at the same time and then show the card. Then if it goes to deadlock it will be more fair. America is voting on the prior days performances. The save me song is strictly for the judges to vote. They need to step up and do their job. I think there would be less chance of a deadlock if they don’t know how each other voted until they show the card with their vote on it.

    yeah you’re right. it shows that nicole is not fitting for this job if she have to have someone else make the decision for her.

    This show sucks! It is all about the judges and their wealth and little concern for the contestants.

    I haven’t watch the show since the first episode so I don’t really know what’s going on. But I remember that that little girl can sing. The picture that GC is using for the story is just such a hard one to see because she is just a baby and you know that it is killing her.

    She could of refused the deadlock and made up her mind. Paula just suggested it. nicole sucks as a judge, it’s still her fault.

    Definitely a good idea that they do not know what the others have voted – who knows who Nicole would have voted for if it wasn’t the deciding vote.

    people, somebody has to go. the objective of the show is to find the best of the best. it is inevitable. i think rachel was too confident that she will win and people around her infuse that to her. i feel sorry for her because it didn’t turn out what they have expected. she was more concerned how her parents would take it so she resorted to tantrums. she made all the judges feel miserable. the girl is a very good actress. i also believe there was an offer from disney before this thing was announced, so why the drama?

    Dallasgirl you are an idiot! America made the choice. If you wanted Rachel to stay you should have voted more. Where was the outrage a few weeks ago when Simon let it go to dealock and Leroy got sent home?

    This show is more drama than talent searching.
    Drew, Astro and Rachel Crow will make it big, they are the future.
    Will not watch anymore, do not believe in “the votes”.
    Most voters are kids 12 to 16 who do u think they voted for? Josh, Melanie (even if she has a great voice, pretty boring …..)

    Josh is the real talent int his competition. None of the remaining contestants match his level. Melanie has a great voice of course but really, how many Mariah’s, Whitney’s and Celine’s do you need? One of each is enough. Her voice doesn’t stand out enough. Josh FTW!

    Simon didn’t “let” it go to deadlock like Nicole did. Simon actually voted for who he wanted and it ended up in deadlock because of it. America is also voting on the day before performances. The save me song is strictly for the judges to vote who sung the save me song best.

    I actually think that most voters are older which is why Josh and Melanie are still going strong. I agree that Astro and Rachel will make it big – not so sure on Drew – and that the others will not.

    I’m also not interested in watching anymore with Rachel gone – will see the finale where we’ll hopefully hear her again.

    Oh, yeah… and Marcus Canty is the “best of the best”? Not. People thought Rachel was safe, so they put votes elsewhere. Who would have thought it would turn out like that w/ Canty having been in the Bottom 2 three weeks running? Now we have one of the least talented in the Semi. Useless. Cowell needs to dump Scherzinger and get someone else for next season.
