Paul Walker In New Shark Week Special “Spawn Of Jaws” – WATCH VIDEO
Previously taped footage of the late Paul Walker will air on Wednesday’s Shark Week special, “Spawn of Jaws: The Birth.”
The actor, who studied marine biology in college, helped Dr. Michael Domeier tag a great white shark during 2013’s “Spawn of Jaws,” and was in the midst of filming the follow-up when he tragically died in a car crash.
“Honestly, I really didn’t want to keep working on the film,” Domeier told Entertainment Weekly, “But after a few months went by, I decided, ‘Okay, Paul would want us to finish it, let’s finish it.’”
Domeier admits he was originally against working with Walker for the the 2010 special “Shark Men,” fearing a celebrity would overshadow the special, but says he grew “impressed” by the star and they soon became friends.
“He would call me in the middle of the night and say, ‘Hey, I want to quit acting. I want to go back to school. Can you help me?’ the marine biologist recalls. ” And I’d talk him off the ledge and go, ‘Paul, that’s a really bad idea.’ [Laughs] I said, ‘You can have much more of an influence on these topics as a celebrity. Let’s work together. I can help you, give you talking points.'”
Walker’s Fast & Furious franchise costar Dwayne Johnson discusses the late actor’s passion for marine biology in the introduction for “Spawn of Jaws: The Birth.”
