Patton Oswalt Honors Late Wife Michelle McNamara
Patton Oswalt paid tribute on Friday to his late wife, Michelle McNamara, who died in her sleep last week at the couple’s Los Angeles home. She was 46.
Oswalt and McNamara got married in 2005, and in 2009 she gave birth to their daughter Alice. Speaking publicly for the first time since his wife’s untimely passing, Oswalt tweeted, “She wrote lines that stung & hummed. 13 years in her presence was happily humbling. #RIPMichelleMcNamara.” McNamara was a true crime writer who started a successful blog called True Crime Diary, for which she wrote about unsolved cases. Oswalt also posted a link to “help share Michelle McNamara’s passion for writing,” suggesting people donate money in her honor to 826LA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young students hone their writing skills.
McNamara’s cause of death has yet to be disclosed, but she reportedly had no known prior medical conditions. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office revealed earlier this week that a cause of death could take months to determine because the medical examiner’s office is so backed up with cases. Oswalt’s rep released a statement last week, saying McNamara’s death was “a complete shock to her family and friends, who loved her dearly.” Gossip Cop extends condolences to the actor-comedian and his family.
