Patrick Dempsey NOT “Fired” From Grey’s Anatomy Due To “Bad Behavior”
Patrick Dempsey was NOT “fired” from “Grey’s Anatomy” due to “bad behavior,” despite a new story that wrongly claims he was “axed” because he supposedly “showed up late” and “forgot lines.” A rep for the star exclusively tells Gossip Cop that the story is “not true.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Dempsey’s character Dr. Derek Shepherd died on last Thursday’s episode, stunning fans. Though the actor has said he’s leaving the hit ABC series on good terms with creator Shonda Rhimes, RadarOnline is now claiming otherwise. The webloid quotes a so-called “on-set insider” as saying, “Shonda had no other choice but to fire Patrick! He had been showing up late, and was holding up production because he couldn’t remember his lines. This was such a departure from Patrick’s prior work ethic as he had always been on time, and ready to go.”
The RadarOnline “insider” further alleges Dempsey’s reduced presence this season was because he was “suspended,” and claims he “was given another chance to get back on track. But when Patrick returned, there was a chip on his shoulder, and the cast was being impacted.” And RadarOnline cites another supposed “insider” as alleging, “Shonda shouldn’t be blamed. This is on Patrick and no one else.”
But though RadarOnline insists Dempsey was “let go” for being a “major pain,” Gossip Cop has learned that’s not the case. And the star’s rep tells us exclusively, “This story is not true.” Dempsey’s exit from the show is no doubt shocking. But perhaps the drama is best left onscreen.
