Black Keys Drummer Patrick Carney: Justin Bieber Not Worthy of Grammy Nomination

Justin Bieber had no place at the 2013 Grammy Awards, according to The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney.

Asked if he felt Bieber — who was not nominated for any awards — was snubbed by the show, the rocker responded, “He’s rich, right?”

Carney told TMZ, “Grammys are for like music, not for money… and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy.”

The Black Keys took home four trophies on Sunday, while Bieber has never won a Grammy.

Ironically, of course, Carney did steal Bieber’s hairdo.

    How rude. Anyone of any talent in the music industry should know (one would think) that Justin Bieber is very very talented as both a musician, singer, and actor. Saturday Night Live was the bomb! It isn’t about being rich; that isn’t JB’s ultimate goal.

    It’s not like the guy was walking up to the media spouting his opinion about it, they asked HIM. If it was me, I would have said something more rude. Of course Justin Bieber doesn’t deserve a Grammy! How is his music any different from any other pop singer? It’s all the same crap.

    What’s wrong with the Grammy’s is that it is political, that’s why Dick Clark came out with the AMA’s to be fair to everyone. The fans should be the judge of your music, talent, or both without them no one gets a paycheck.

    Justin is geared towards the teenage crowd, so of course teen choice/AMAs/MMVA/MTV music awards he would win. The Grammys are it based on popular vote with the viewers but towards the music industry. If he can pull off what Justin timberlake did (IE: move from boy band to solo artist geared towards teens and adults) perhaps he might win a Grammy one year.

If someone said that about HIM he’s be butt hurt. Who cares about wealth? If an artists wants a Grammy they want a damn Grammy. Michael Jackson didnt even win one for the longest time as many other legends haven’t won Grammys and they’re rich so I guess they’re asses don’t deserve one either then. That shit song by Carly Rae Jepson was nominated and fun was nominated and they’re crap so what’s the difference? So someone should tell him he’s rich which he is so why do they want a Grammy? It’s a huge contradiction to me. Clique as it may be wealth isn’t a key to happiness. Acts are rich but they all struggle to win a Oscar don’t they?

    In the wise mature words of an actual adult. If you don’t anything polite to say don’t say anything at all. Don’t contradict yourself. Don’t be a hypocrite. And do unto others as you would want them to do to you. Seems like someone who wants to stir up drama to me. Nobody ain’t got time for that! What I said may sound clique but it’s annoying to always see these celebs begin drama like children. Weither you like the kid or not you should be aware of what comes out your mouth before you say them. If I were a celeb id be more cautious and kept to myself. There is a such thing and ignoring paps stupid questions or saying no comment. Celebs do it all the time.

    Agreed. I wouldn’t care if people didnt like my music if I were an artist cause alot of people may not like the blak keys either. All people like different stuff o who is anyone to not call it music? Maybe it’s real to someone else. If my fans liked me and my music that’s all that would matter. Main reason these people are even in the industry is to make MONEY so if he don’t care about money his career says otherwise

    the black keys have been around since 2000 and they had to work hard in a fuckin basement to be where they are while pop artists like JB just get a record deal and bam!they are famous,bieber has to widen his demographic of pop genre to reach people of every age,not just for teenagers or tweens

    Well justin bieber only got famous fairly quickly because people enjoy his music, they think he is good, it didn’t happen overnight for him it took time, the black keys aren’t ‘pop’ so not as many people will know about them so they won’t get fame as quick, it still doesn’t justify what he said
