‘Paranormal Activity 2′ Scares Up New Record with $43.5 million

Paranormal Activity 2 scared up $41.5 million, giving the low-budget film the biggest horror film opening ever.
Coming in second this weekend was Jackass 3D with $21.6 million in box office receipts.
And the middle-aged spy ensemble Red finishes in third with $15 million.
New dad Matt Damon‘s afterlife exploration Hereafter takes fourth place with $12 million, and Facebook origin story The Social Network nabs the fifth spot with $7.3 million.
Rounding out the Top Ten are Secretariat ($7 million), Life As We Know It ($6.3 million), Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, ($3.1 million), The Town ($2.7 million), and Easy A ($1.7 million).
