Paris flees her fella’s birthday,” screams a headline from the British tab, The Sun.  The story, which went global, claims Paris Hilton ran out of a Las Vegas club, where she had taken her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt for his birthday, after seeing ex-beau Benji Madden.

According to the paper, Hilton wanted to treat Reinhardt to a performance of his friends’ group Taintstick, “however her joy turned to despair after finding out Benji had stepped in at the last minute to play bass.”

A “source” told the tab, “Shortly after getting into the gig Paris saw Benji’s face and bolted.”

The story is not true. In reality, Hilton “had no idea Benji was even there,” a source close to Hilton confides to Gossip Cop. Although Hilton was briefly in the same venue, adds Gossip Cop’s insider, she was really en route to another club within the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where the couple went to dance.

Sorry, less dramatic — but more accurate.
