Paige VanZant Gives “Badass” Performance On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ (VIDEO)
Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas danced a paso doble to Jorge Quintero’s “300 Violin Orchestra” on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars,” which was centered around each star’s “Most Memorable Year.” Watch the video below.
VanZant chose 2014 as her most memorable year because it was when she had first UFC fight. VanZant explained she used to be a straight A student until she started getting bullied in high school. That, she noted, was what prompted her to become a UFC fighter, and it made even being bullied “worth it.” She then performed her routine in an octagon, like UFC fighters.
VanZant has been repeatedly on the top of the leaderboard this season. During the show’s premiere, she and Ballas impressed the judges with their foxtrot, which earned them a score of 21 out of 30. In week two, VanZant came back even stronger with partner Alan Bersten, who filled in for an injured Ballas. Their salsa on “Latin Night” received a 24 out of 30 from the judges.
The judges really liked VanZant and Ballas’s paso doble on “Most Memorable Year.” Len Goodman said, “It was a wonderful performance,” but felt it would have been better termed a contemporary dance than a paso double. Bruno Tonioli exclaimed, “I thought it was like watching Wonder Woman… Fantastic!” he added he loved her “power” and “energy.” And Carrie Ann Inaba felt it was “badass” and “awesome.”
For VanZant and Ballas’s routine to Jorge Quintero’s “300 Violin Orchestra,” they received 23 out of 30 points. Check out the video below of Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas’s paso doble on the “Most Memorable Year”-themed “Dancing With The Stars.”
