Oscars Nominations Live Stream 2016

The 2016 Oscars nominations will be announced on Thursday, and Gossip Cop has a live stream!

The nominees for the 88th Academy Awards are to be unveiled at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles in two phases. First, directors Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee will reveal the contenders for such categories as Animated Feature Film and Documentary Feature. Then, John Krasinski will join Cheryl Boone, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to share the competitors for all the acting awards, plus Best Picture.

There are 24 categories in all, covering everything from art design and sound editing to directing and original screenplay. Nominations are based on polls of Academy members, who include not just actors, but various other branches of the film industry. And by most standards, winning an Oscar is the gold standard in entertainment.

The nomination announcement comes less than a week after the 2016 Golden Globes, and just days before the Critics’ Choice Awards. And though the Oscar nominees will now be known in mid-January, voting won’t actually begin for almost another month, on February 12. Voting will end February 23, only five days before Chris Rock hosts the star-studded Academy Award ceremony on February 28.

The live stream for the nominations is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, with the second announcement coming at 8:38 a.m. Stay tuned!
