2013 Oscar Nominations: Who Got Snubbed?

Where is Ben Afflecks Oscar nomination?

That seems to be the question on many people’s minds after the nominees for the 2013 Academy Awards were announced on Thursday.

Affleck was surprisingly left out of the Best Director category for Argo, as was Kathryn Bigelow, who directed Zero Dark Thirty.

Quentin Tarantino was also snubbed in the category for Django Unchained.

Check out the gallery below for actors and movies whom many feel were unfairly left out.

Who else do you think deserved a nomination?

this is Karma to BEN AFFLECK for quit the movie focus poor ben he think he get and oscar hahaha.

  • ?

This year’s list is way poor with only a few exception such as Anne Hathaway, Naomi Watts(she’s my favorite), Hugh Jackman and Daniel Day- Lewis!!!

  • guest

how on earth is it karma because he dropped out of Focus?!?! smh

  • http://www.facebook.com/rezearta.caushaj Rezearta Caushaj

NO I think this is the fact that ALLLLLLLLLLL awards are tricked and ol’Oscars make no difference. Pitty cause this year there where so many good movies and they all should have competed. But in America I see it is the new way of denying someone to win – Not nominating it!

  • Charlotte

The Intouchables was the greatest movie of 2012…in germany we do not differenciate between american and european movies but I really thought this french movie was going to get this effing oscar! it is a shame that so many touching and lovely movies are not nominated! why on earth would they snub leo and his costars? oh academy… what are u doing…! definitely not watching the oscars this year…

  • anon123

    delusional kstew fans that’s how

  • Jen

Not going to get upset about any of this. There are only so many slots, so someone had to be left out. Maybe folks should not always think they have something for sure, until it actually happens. That way they are not disappointed, but only greatful if it actually occurs.

  • Congrats for great movie!

How great is it that he dropped out of Focus trying to save his “Oscar” rep and still didn’t get it, it’s great in the sense that haters out there can’t blame his connection to it for his
failure. He did it all on his own, no help needed and no one to blame either… no scapegoat.
They just didn’t think HE deserved it, but his movie did. Congrats are in order after all b/c it was his direction that got the movie there.

  • give it up already!

Oh FFS! Do you lot have to drag Kristen Stewart into everything? Ben Affleck dropped out of Focus because he had another project to finish,& it has a time deadline.

  • Beth

Just goes to show this is another award show that is FOS and fixed. The only award show that is worth anything is the SAG. The rest are pure BS.

  • guest

Yes, but only kstew fans would call it ‘karma’ because he dropped out of a movie she is set to star in. no need to get butthurt about people pointing it out.

  • Kourt The Therapist

And none for Leo DiCarprio… Again. Sigh… Will he ever have his moment? Poor guy.

  • Shelly

That argument is baseless because Joaquin Phoenix got an Oscar nod, and he’s been gone since Walk the Line.

  • Heidi

He is crazy obsessed with her so much hate yet can’t stay away from her , she owns his ass and yes Ben admitted he is overwhelmed with other commitments!

  • Rob fan

Seriously? Ben so deserved to be nominated and people like Jen Lawrence who hardly gave an oscar worthy performance in silver linings, what a shame on the academy!

  • Truth

The Oscars love love love Jennifer Lawrence she can sneeze into a tissue and will get nominated. The Oscars hate hate hate Di Capprio he has done really good work and will continue to get snubbed. IMO both are good, but overrated.

  • Nak

Well they can’t blame Kristen for the snub lol.

  • Lmao

Can we all picture the haters are working overtime trying to figure out how they can blame Kristen for this too in 3…2…

  • Sue

I agree this years list is blah. I do love Sallie Field so I hope she wins she was great in Lincoln and is a great actress the Supporting Actress cat. Is a tuff one the Best Actress I think will be NW or some were even talking that little girl who knows but the Supporitng Roles is a tuff call better then the Best. If you ask me.

Not even 50 comments for boring Ben.

  • Crazy Fans

Look don’t generalize here, every single actor has a crazy stalker fan or two. Kristen, Ben and even Meryl Streep are no exception.

  • JJ

    Maybe with The Great Gatsby?

  • jackalexandria

I’m glad Tarrantino’s film was snubbed. And no I’m not racist, i just don’t like Tarrantino’s films.

    Uh … Middle of Nowhere???????

  • skeptical

What are you talking about? It got several noms including best picture.

  • skeptical

I thought Rust and Bone would get some nominations too–esp Marion C.

  • http://twitter.com/cody_landman Cody Landman

Perks of Being a Wallflower should have been nominated somewhere in there. Best movie of 2012.

  • rob fan

trust me they will find a way to blame kristen, they live to torture her any way they can, its their date night ritual lol!

  • Catherine

Jen Lawrence hardly gave an Oscar worthy performance??? You do realize from the moment the movie was screened she was the favorite to win based on her performance which frankly was dead on. Her only competition is Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty who also nailed her role.

  • Catherine

GossipCop should note that Skyfall is nominated for a total of 4 awards, not just Original Song for Adele so your photo captions above are wrong. Skyfall is also nominated for score, sound mixing and sound editing. It was snubbed in the major categories though, Best Pic, Best Supporting Actress for Judi Dench and Best Supporting Actor for Javier Bardem.

  • jackalexandria

your right i should have been more specific for the dummies. Im glad Tarrantino wasn’t nominated. His movies are dreadful.

  • http://twitter.com/kh_94 KH

Completely agree with your comment. I love Jen but Jessica was amazing in ZDT.

  • MDM

I wanted to see Tom Hooper get a Best Director nomination and some more actors from Les Miserables get acting nominations. The acting nominations, I can forgive, but the director snub really disappointed me. Not only did Tom Hooper brilliantly pull off a musical on screen, but he also broke new ground by getting all the actors to sing live. Plus, most of the time, Best Picture winners are the films that win Best Director, and I really wanted Les Miserables to have a solid chance at Best Picture. Oh well.

  • http://twitter.com/kh_94 KH

The Perks of Being a Wallflower definitely should have got nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. What a shame.

  • Rob fan

Liked the movie but it really was not an oscar worthy performance, when you compare to previously best actress winners who were I’m movies with so much more substance and phenomenal acting you can’t compare JMO!

  • Guest

Exactly clearly that person don’t know movies djangowas actually amazing and so was the acting and the PACKED movie theaters of people going to see it TWICE says alot

  • Guest

Okay. Perks of a Wallflower. Django, Argo. ZDT should’ve been on the lair and they know it. I’m sick and tired of Leonardo being treated like shut from this academy when he is In FACT one of the most talented and BEST male actor in the industry hands down. He doesn’t create drama he does his job he’s humble. He should have many oscars by now. I’ve seen ever film he has and not one have I ever said his acting was bad everyone he blows me away even Jamie fox was good in django too. Leonardo never gets the credit he due and I think it’s a personal prejudice issue form the academy tbh cause I can’t think of any other reason. Also the academy kisses Jen Lawrence ass there is no denying that. I can name three other women that did better in their films that her. I’m glad Lincoln was nominated. That film was spectacular and if tht film wasn’t nominated I would’ve been livid and it would definitely be a fact the academy is shit. But to be quite frank I realized the academy was sorta of crap when the Harry potter films lost nominations as awards to other films those teas that clearly weren’t as good and when headgear was snubbed when that film was one of the best that year. Not a huge HP fan but those are fantastic films. I was shocked not even Alan Rickmans character was nominated. All I see is the academy choosing favorites they need non bias people on the board. People who can offer valid opinions without picking people they “like” but films and actors that can act their asses off.

Can’t wait to see it. Love Tarrentino (and the Coen bros). My hubby hates Tarrentino tho so I’ll have to go see it without him.

I liked POBAW better than SLP but I liked Moonrise Kingdom better than either of them.

    dicaprio will get nominated
and maybe win for THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

  • http://www.facebook.com/gerard.kennelly Gerard Kennelly

    in my opinion
dicaprio gave 3 oscar worthy performances so far
    WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE
    SHUTTER ISLAND
    REVOLUTIONARY ROAD

  • http://www.facebook.com/gerard.kennelly Gerard Kennelly

best way to win an oscar is play a real person
he plays a character based on a real person in WOLF OF WALL STREET

  • redford

Im going to say that the Oscar was more for her performance in The Hunger Games. I thought she was perfect for that role and that was her winning performance. I liked it better than playbook. It just was her year i think to win.

  • redford

You know what they need to do. They need to open up each category like they did for best picture category so they can truly reward ALL of the best performances of the year.
