Oprah Finale: “This Isn’t Goodbye”
Oprah ended her 25-year run with one guest for her finale — Oprah. The last episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which taped yesterday — and will air today — had Oprah summing up the lessons she’s learned over the past quarter century hosting her eponymous show.
Oprah told the audience, “This isn’t goodbye. This is until we meet again,” before kissing and hugging longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham, and then walking through the halls of her Harpo Studios, where she said her goodbyes to her staff. Later in the show, Oprah said, “I’ve spoken to nearly 30,000 people on this show and all 30,000 had one thing in common: A need for validation. Everybody wants to be heard.”
She urged viewers to “validate” the people in their lives by listening to them and making them feel that they matter, and gave out her new email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that fans could continue to be heard. Asked about the secret to her success, Oprah answered, “My team… and Jesus.”
