Oprah’s Dad Vernon Winfrey NOT Writing Tell-All Book, Despite Claim
Oprah’s dad, Vernon Winfrey, is not writing a tell-all book, despite a claim made in one in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this. We’re told it’s not true.
According to the National Enquirer, Oprah’s father is currently writing a “bombshell memoir,” in which he plans to reveal a number of well-kept family secrets. An unnamed source tells the tabloid that Vernon is ready to expose “the real Oprah.” “He’s ready to lift the lid on the real story behind the family’s public image,” adds the outlet’s tipster. The magazine’s supposed insider further purports that Vernon might make “revelations” about his daughter’s weight struggles as well as her alleged “battle with drugs.”
But Gossip Cop investigated, and it’s all untrue. A source close to Oprah assures us the tabloid’s claims are wrong, and confirms her dad is not writing a tell-all memoir, nor was he ever planning to disclose private information about the media mogul. Similarly, a rep for Oprah also exclusively tells us the magazine’s story is “not true.”
Over the years, the Enquirer has published a number of inaccurate stories about Oprah. And Gossip Cop has called out the supermarket tabloid for doing so. In January, for example, we caught the publication falsely alleging that Oprah had demanded Stedman Graham marry her. And shortly before that untrue article, we corrected the magazine for wrongly claiming Oprah was worried Kanye West and Kim Kardashian recorded their phone calls. Both of those reports were seemingly fabricated or based on bad information, and it appears that’s the case with the latest tale about Oprah’s dad writing a tell-all book about her.
