One Direction Urges Fans On Red Nose Day: “Your Money Can Change A Lot Of Kids’ Lives” (VIDEO)
One Direction is asking its fans on Red Nose Day to give generously to the charity, which helps poverty-stricked kids in the U.S. and abroad. On Thursday, the four remaining group members posted a video seeking support (see below). Harry Styles began by noting that the members of the group are “massive supporters of Red Nose Day,” which began in the U.K. Niall Horan then related how “we’ve been to Ghana and seen the overwhelming needs with our own eyes. We know your money can change a lot of kids’ lives.”
After Horan, Liam Payne urged fans to “hashtag Red Nose Day on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat” and “get all your friends involved now.” And then Louis Tomlinson asked for people to “donate.” He added, “Help us use the power of social media to help kids in desperate situations.”
Gossip Cop reported in February 2013 about One Direction’s visit to Ghana. At the time, we noted, former group member Zayn Malik sobbed after he and the others guys, as part of Red Nose Day efforts, visited a hospital in Accra, Ghana, where they spent time with babies whose bodies had been destroyed by diseases that could have been prevented had their families been able to afford vaccines. In tears, Malik said afterwards, “It’s so hard… I’ve never seen anything, never experienced anything like this in my life.”
As Gossip Cop has mentioned over the past few days, NBC will air a live three-hour telethon on Thursday to benefit Red Nose Day, and among the many stars participating are Reese Witherspoon, Neil Patrick Harris, Julia Roberts, Robert Pattinson, and Will Ferrell. Check out the video below of One Direction urging fans to donate on Red Nose Day. Gossip Cop will have extensive coverage of Red Nose Day tonight, so please check back.
