One Direction Fans React To Liam Payne Capitol Records Solo Deal
As Gossip Cop reported, the One Direction singer announced the news Thursday on Twitter, writing, “Happy to have signed to @CapitolUK. They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps.” Payne added in a second tweet, “One direction will always be my home and family but I’m very excited to see what this chapter brings.”
Many fans of the British star find the news bittersweet, as they’re very excited about his new venture, but also are concerned about what it means for the future of 1D. One person wrote, “Like yasss solo liam rise but i need them to come back in april next year please.” Another fan said, “I’m excited for solo Liam but what about 1D they promised and I’m honestly getting scared.”
There was also so much speculation that One Direction is now done for good that #OneDirectionIsOverParty became a trending topic. A Twitter user asked, “Can you believe Liam hammered the last nail into One Direction’s coffin?” There were even jokes about Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson being the only members left, since Harry Styles recently signed his own record deal, too.
The double-punch has left fans worried. One individual wrote, “Honestly just tell us if it’s over other then slowly dropping these bomb on us…it hurts more.” And another person similarly expressed, “I’m not angry at Liam, I’m glad that he is following his heart but can’t they at least clear things up for once?”
Others Directioners, however, pointed out that the band previously said they’d be reuniting at some point, and there’s been no announcement about a breakup. “One Direction isn’t over. They promised to come back. They can do solo things,” offered one user. Another fan tweeted, “No one said 1D is over. They promised to come back. Solo tracks from Liam will be ace.” Gossip Cop has reached out for comment.
